Overview of Master of Philosophy Engineering Education in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Malaysia

The PhD. and MPhil. in Engineering Education is a full research mode programme. For the completion of the programme, candidates are required to complete several courses (or sometimes called as subjects). The courses provide candidates with the fundamentals of engineering education, as well as the basics in designing research frameworks and proposals.

Candidates are required to attend and pass the courses and their respective credits as required by the Faculty of Engineering.  Both MPhil. and PhD. Students are also required to attend and pass one University Compulsory course .  The mode of supervision of MPhil. programme is similar to the PhD. programme.

Candidates are then required to conduct their research, and to proceed with their thesis writings. Each candidate will be supervised by two qualified supervisors: one with the background in engineering, while the other with the education background.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• A Bachelor’s degree with good honours in a relevant field from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or any institutions of higher learning recognised by the UTM Senate; or
• Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and experience in the relevant field recognised by the Senate.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

An international candidate is required to have a minimum qualification of Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 550, or International English Language Test System (IELTS) of Band 6.0. Exemption may be given to those who are natives of English-speaking countries or who graduated from English-speaking countries. Those who do not meet the minimum requirement must attend and pass the Intensive English Programme before they are allowed to proceed with their studies.
